Dina Alsowayel is Associate Director of Women’s Studies at the University of Houston in Texas. She joined the University in 1998 as a post-doctoral fellow in Religious Studies. She received her M.A and PhD from Rice University in Political Science and her JD from University of Houston. Her B.A. is from Wellesley College. Alsowayel teaches a variety of courses in the History department, these include history of the Modern Middle East, State and Society in the Middle East, Women and Islam, A History of Islam, War in the Middle East and a History of the Palestine-Israeli Conflict. She also takes students to the Arab and Muslim world annually.

Linda Veazey joined the Women's Studies Program as the post-doctoral fellow in 2008. She earned her MA and PhD in Political Science from the University of Southern California, where her dissertation was titled "A Woman's Right to Culture: An Argument for Gendered Cultural Rights." Her research focuses on issues of gender, religion, and culture in human rights and law.

Holle Canatella is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History and is working on her graduate certificate in Women’s Studies. She specializes in medieval women’s history and has a minor in world history. She received her MA in European history from UH in 2005 and her BA in history with a minor in English from Texas A&M University in 2002. Before joining Women’s Studies she worked as a teaching assistant for a variety of history courses from the freshman to senior levels from August, 2002-May, 2008. During the summer of 2008 she taught classes for the Upward Bound program at UH. She is also the president of Phi Alpha Theta- Zeta Kappa, the graduate chapter of the history national honor society at UH, and a committee member for the History Graduate Student Mentoring Association.
